The independent AI assurance body for Aotearoa

The operating layer for Māori AI governance.

Help rebuild trust in AI through responsible, transparent deployment. Give your board a clear view of every model in use, the risks it carries and whether it performs as promised. Maintain a complete registry and independently test vendor claims against your work, your standards and your obligations.

The Governance Score

The Score rises when your organisation completes a control, and decays when evidence goes stale, when an unassessed system enters your estate, or when an evaluation surfaces a regression. Below is an illustrative view for a sample organisation.

Developing. Strong protection and classification foundations; independent evaluation coverage is the next lift. Three actions below would raise the Score to 74.

Live signals

Vendor model changed behind the API. "Document triage assistant" now runs a different model than the one evaluated in June. Tested evidence expired; Score decayed 2 points.
Unclassified system detected. A new analytics service touching client records entered the registry unassessed.
Evaluation passed. Te reo Māori capability suite v3.2 re-run on the contact-centre assistant: no regression.

The Platform

01

The Governance Score

A single, continuously updated measure of maturity against a kaumātua-sanctioned framework. Evidence is graded as attested, observed or tested, and tested evidence carries the greatest weight, which keeps the whole instrument honest.

02

Model & Algorithm Registry

The system of record for every model, algorithm and AI-enabled service you operate: ownership, lineage, vendor, and the classification of every category of Māori data each system touches.

03

Independent Evaluation

Any vendor's claim, tested on your own tasks: accuracy, robustness and cost alongside te reo Māori capability, tikanga alignment and equity of performance for Māori.

04

Audit & Certification

Structured algorithmic audit with findings and remediation pathways, and a certification mark vendors earn through independent evaluation, renewed by annual surveillance, with the option of making it available to procurement panels and partners when the vendor is ready.

How it works

From first look to standing assurance.

Trust in AI is rebuilt the same way it is lost: one deployment at a time. Every organisation begins where it truly is, and a low score with a clear pathway is a beginning, not a judgment.

01

Count what you hold

We stand up your registry: every system that touches data, classified against the pou, with taonga-classified data flagged for the highest scrutiny.

02

See where you stand

Your first Governance Score, with the ordered list of actions that lift it, priced and sequenced so your leadership can govern the pathway.

03

Hold the line, continuously

Evidence refreshes, evaluations re-run, vendor changes surface, and the Score moves with the truth. Your board sees one number and its trend.

Pricing

From marae-based trusts to the Crown.

Indicative pricing for conversation, not quotation. No organisation is priced out of doing the right thing.

Kaupapa & governance

Built and held here

The frameworks lead, the software follows

Assessment is anchored to the Māori Data Governance Model and honours the principles of Te Mana Raraunga. Frameworks are versioned artefacts.

Evaluation assets held as taonga

The te reo, tikanga and equity evaluation suites are held under Māori governance on sovereign infrastructure. They are never sold to vendors and never used to train models.

Independence by structure

The body that scores you never sells you the remediation. Frameworks and the certification standard sit with a kaitiaki entity.

Data stays in Aotearoa

All platform data resides onshore, with taonga-classified material eligible for Māori-owned infrastructure.

Assessed against

Every control on the platform cites the framework it serves, so your score can be read through any of these lenses:

Māori Data Governance Model · 8 pou Te Mana Raraunga principles Algorithm Charter for Aotearoa Public Service AI Framework CARE Principles · Global Indigenous Data Alliance Te Poutokomanawa · pending ratification ISO/IEC 42001 crosswalk

Weightings, thresholds and the platform's name rest with the kāhui kaumātua. Nothing here pre-empts that work.

For vendors

Certified once, trusted across Aotearoa

Independent evaluation of your product's claims against the governance framework, renewed through annual surveillance. One certification replaces a hundred procurement questionnaires, and the mark travels with you into every tender in Aotearoa.

Systems declined or unevaluated remain visible in customer registries as unassessed. Certification is the difference between being measured on your own terms and being measured anyway.
